Dr. Martial G. Bourassa, cardiologist at the MHI since 1965, is considered a pioneer in Quebec and is recognized for the invention of the Bourassa Catheter, which has been used since 1970 in North America and Europe in over 200,000 procedures. 

The catheter allowed personalized angiographies and lessened complications substantially. It is was a revolutionary development which lead to new families of catheters.It constitutes a generous contribution to the medical and scientific community.

Towards the development of alternate angiographic methods, Dr Lucien Campeau, colleague of Dr Bourassa,
innovated in conceptualizing and implementing the percutaneous radial angiography.
