Stress Reduction Workshop

Clinic description

Stress can permeate our lives and cause both physical and mental suffering. If not properly managed, daily stress can lead to a plethora of symptoms: digestion problems, sleep disorders, fatigue, irritability, loss of concentration, loss of pleasure, impulsivity, impaired judgement, sadness, and many others. We now know that stress is also a significant risk factor for coronary artery disease.

Fortunately, there are ways we can reduce stress-related suffering, transform it, and use it to bring about gradual positive change. The Stress Reduction Workshop offered through the ÉPIC Centre provides people with skills to reduce and better manage stress and thereby enjoy a healthy life for as long as possible.

Objectives:

  • Reduce stress-related symptoms through the five keys to personal balance.
  • Develop a greater degree of personal responsibility toward both mental and physical health problems and their treatment.
  • Create a group atmosphere that helps participants apply new and concrete stress management habits and tools.
  • Help participants make changes in their lives.
  • Establish a regular routine of taking time out to practise various forms of meditation.

Given by Dr. Robert Béliveau, the mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Workshop is meant for people interested in practising simple and accessible meditation techniques to reduce the effects of stress.
