Profile 

Dr. Dyrda has a degree in engineering physics (materials science) from Queen's University and in medicine from the University of Ottawa. She continued her training in internal medicine at Queen's University and then in adult cardiology at Université de Montréal. This exposure to different educational models provided her with excellent training in teaching, allowed her to gain theoretical knowledge and clinical experience, and helped her become involved in research. Her electrophysiology training started with a one-year fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI), during which she remained active in various research projects while teaching at Université de Montréal and providing training to practising family doctors. Dr. Dyrda took two additional years of training in interventional electrophysiology at Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands, under the supervision of professors K. Zeppenfeld and M. Schalij, where she developed particular expertise in ventricular tachycardia ablation using both endocardial and epicardial approaches. During her career, she has also worked as a consultant in forensic medicine.

She was eventually able to apply her extensive expertise and training in Quebec and joined the Electrophysiology Service at the MHI in 2013. In her clinical practice, she mainly sees patients in general cardiology and interventional electrophysiology, but she is also involved in various clinical research activities as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
