To choose a room (private, semi-private or ward), you need your hospital insurance policy number or card. We will assign you a room based on your choice to the greatest extent possible. However, during your stay, you may be transferred to another room for medical or administrative reasons. Read more
Following your surgery, you may have to stay in the Montreal Heart Institute for a few days of recovery. To make your stay more comfortable, we suggest that you have in your possession toiletries and other items you may need. Read more
The Food Services and Clinical Nutrition Department provides a balanced diet that is adapted to your heart condition and that is low in fat and sodium. Some exams require that you be on a caffeine-restricted diet. You will receive caffeine-free foods and drinks depending on the care unit where you are hospitalized. Read more
We will advise you of your discharge the night before to the greatest extent possible, and you must leave your room before 11:00 a.m. the next morning. A chart in your room will indicate your planned discharge time. If you are advised of your discharge on the same day, you must leave within two hours or within a timeframe based on your doctor's advice. Read more
