Palliative care encompasses all acute and comprehensive care provided to patients at the Montreal Heart Institute who have a guarded prognosis. Appropriate and personalized treatment does not aim to heal patients but rather alleviate both the physical and psychological signs and symptoms that contribute to overall suffering at the end of life. The main goal is to preserve human dignity during end-of-life care.
